IWATA is doing it again this year. From Regeneration to Circularity: Collecting old down comforters at "Circulation Fest 2025.4.20 @ Umekoji Park"

This year, IWATA will once again collect down futons at the "Junkan Fes." We are promoting the circular manufacturing "RENMEN Project" with the desire to "pass on to the next generation a Japan where we can enjoy the changing seasons."

Kyoto bedding manufacturer IWATA (Iwata Co., Ltd.) will sponsor the "Junkan Fes" (to be held on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Umekoji Park in Kyoto City) and will collect old down futons free of charge at the venue.

This activity is part of the "RENMEN Project," an initiative by IWATA towards a circular economy system. With the desire to "pass on to the next generation a Japan where we can enjoy the changing seasons," IWATA will contribute to building a sustainable society in the field of bedding manufacturing.

Iwata's environmental initiatives have received high evaluations, including the R6 Kyoto City Environmental Award Special Prize, the R6 Kyoto Prefecture Environmental Preservation Contributor Award, and the Decarbonization Challenge Cup.

From Down Collection and Regeneration to Circularity – RENMEN Project –

Iwata proposes a circular cycle instead of the conventional "make" → "use" → "dispose" consumption flow. Down is a byproduct of ducks and geese raised for food. It is a natural gift that provides high insulation and warmth without relying on fossil fuels. In this project, used down futons are collected. After extracting and washing the down, its cleanliness is enhanced with proprietary ionization technology, and new products are created.

Junkan Fes Event Overview

The "Junkan Fes," which started in 2022, is a reuse festival centered in Kyoto City that spreads a new system of circularity for used clothing together with Gen Z.

The event features the collection of used clothing through the "RELEASE⇔CATCH" collection boxes, and a "¥0 Market" where participants can take home up to three favorite items from the collected used clothing for free.

It is also packed with workshops and exhibitions where participants can easily experience reuse and recycling, stage events such as talk shows, and a food Marche offering delicious and safe ingredients. It is an event where everyone can enjoy learning about circularity.
